Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
• Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
• BLS preferred; CMA national certification preferred.
• Direct MA experience or medical field work 1–2 years required.
• National MA Certification via AAMA/AMT/NHA/NCCT; Epic experience; ambulatory/outpatient experience.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs, document patient information, schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
• Interact with patients to ensure comfort and address concerns; collaborate with physicians and staff.
• Show patients to exam rooms and prepare equipment for healthcare providers.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physician instructions; provide patient education materials.
• Perform general office duties and act as a liaison with other departments; advocate for patients.
• Collect blood and other specimens; log and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competent.
• Maintain immunization inventory and check expiration dates; administer vaccines as applicable.
