Job summary

BE&K Building Group in Raleigh, NC is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our team. You will analyze blueprints, determine material and labor costs, and prepare competitive bids for commercial construction projects, all on site and under tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, strong knowledge of codes, and proven estimating experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in mechanical engineering, construction management or related field.
• Proven experience as a mechanical estimator in commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficient reading of blueprints and technical drawings.
• Excellent analytical and cost estimation accuracy.
• Proficient in estimation software/tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently.
• ASPE or AACE International certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints and specifications to determine mechanical requirements.
• Estimate costs of materials, labor, and equipment for mechanical installations.
• Prepare and submit detailed and accurate project bids.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand scope.
• Maintain and update cost databases reflecting current market prices.
• Evaluate potential profitability and provide recommendations to management.
• Identify cost-saving measures to increase profitability.
• Ensure estimates comply with mechanical codes and standards.
• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing information.
• Monitor and report on project progress and cost performance.
