Job summary

CMT Services, Inc. seeks an Academic Tutor to support Montgomery College students in mathematics, focusing on placement readiness and foundational skills.

You will guide students through ALEKS placement, provide targeted strategies, and help with study planning to promote academic progress. Ideal candidates have at least four years of math tutoring, strong communication, and comfort using educational technology.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of tutoring or teaching mathematics at or above the developmental level.
• Proficiency with computers and technology for classroom or report preparation.
• Familiarity with instructional technology and educational materials in mathematics.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, front-line services to students.
• Assist students in navigating the ALEKS math placement process.
• Use available resources to provide individualized guidance and support in study strategies and academic planning.
• Identify students who are experiencing delays or difficulties in the math placement process, ensuring these difficulties do not become barriers or create delays in students' academic progress.
• Reach out to students who have started the placement process but need a little nudge to complete it.
• Offer guidance regarding Math Power Boost and academic support for students who do not assess into a math course.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about ALEKS-related technical issues.
