Job summary

NOVA is seeking a Math Support Specialist to assist students in Mathematics Direct Enrollment courses through embedded tutoring in the classroom and supplementary tutoring outside class. The role also facilitates math preparedness workshops and collaborates with math faculty and leadership to tailor support.

You will support students with math concepts and software like Excel, ALEKS, and MyMathLab, stay current with course offerings, and help enhance student success in higher education math.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring mathematics in a higher education setting.
• Experience with computer-based learning systems.
• Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and levels of math.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar applications and tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide MDE students with embedded tutoring in the classroom.
• Provide tutoring outside of the classroom for MDE students.
• Assist students with mathematics and software used in classes.
• Participate in the development and facilitation of math preparedness workshops.
• Meet with campus math leadership to determine support needs and adjustments.
• Suggest improvements to embedded and out-of-class support and workshops.
• Stay up to date on current math software used in MDE courses.
