Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager for an onsite role in Ventura, CA to lead end-to-end purchasing and materials management. You will own PO execution, supplier relationships, inbound material flow, and inventory planning while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
• Direct responsibility for supplier relationships and purchasing execution.
• Experience coordinating international purchases and inbound shipments.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP software for inventory control and data-driven purchasing decisions.
• Strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
• Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks, communicate risks clearly, and drive cross-functional follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Issue, track, and manage purchase orders to ensure procurement of components, materials, and services.
• Secure supplier commitments and resolve lead-time delays and other issues impacting delivery.
• Maintain and update supplier agreements including terms, pricing, and service levels.
• Conduct targeted sourcing to identify alternatives as requirements change.
• Qualify new suppliers and lead contract negotiations for favorable terms.
• Coordinate inbound shipments domestically and internationally.
• Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers on shipping and landed costs.
• Escalate and resolve issues to minimize operational disruption.
• Establish safety stock levels, reorder points, and order quantities in ERP.
• Monitor inventory and adjust purchasing plans based on demand and performance.
• Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and lead supplier performance reviews.
• Prepare reports on supplier performance, cost changes, lead times, and landed costs.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Operations on new product introductions and supplier readiness.
• Manage supplier-held tooling for production readiness.
• Use ERP/MRP data to drive data-driven purchasing improvements.
• Support scaling of purchasing function with potential to lead department.
