Forward Air Corp. is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day multimodal transportation and logistics activities onsite in Glen Burnie, MD.

You will oversee frontline teams, drive safety, quality, and productivity, and ensure customer commitments are met. The role emphasizes problem-solving, lean initiatives, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on SOP adherence and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, transportation, or related supply chain operations.
• Experience leading frontline teams in fast-paced environments with performance management.
• Proficient in English (verbal and written).
• Working knowledge of WMS, TMS, ERP, and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with inventory management, order fulfillment, and dock/yard operations.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen or similar continuous improvement tools.
• Exposure to ISO, OSHA or DOT requirements as applicable.
• Ability to safely operate MHE such as pallet jacks, forklifts, reach trucks as required by site.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operational activities across logistics workflows.
• Coordinate and prioritize work assignments for team members.
• Ensure safe, accurate handling and dispatch of freight.
• Monitor workflow, labor allocation, and equipment usage.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory policies.
• Lead safety observations and enforce safe work practices.
• Adhere to SOPs and change control processes.
• Support audits and regulatory compliance activities.
• Lead problem-solving for service issues and delays.
• Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and costs.
• Respond to real-time operational issues to minimize disruption.
• Escalate issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Provide coaching and direction to frontline associates.
