Coushatta Forest Products is seeking a Log Scaler to join our team in Coushatta, LA. You will process log tickets, weigh trucks, manage scale-house documentation, and coordinate with sawmill staff to ensure accurate weights and data integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills required.
• Basic understanding of forestry products and terminology.
• Ability to perform accurate measurements and maintain detailed records.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle moderate physical activity.
• Preferred certification as a professional log scaler or equivalent industry credential.
• Experience in forestry, logging, or timber processing environments.
• Familiarity with electronic scaling equipment and software.
• Knowledge of local and federal forestry regulations.
• Relevant safety training.

Responsabilités

• Process tickets, log trucks, count stems, and check species, length, and diameter.
• Weigh trucks before/after unloading; record supplier identities; manage scale house docs.
• Conduct weekly inventory reconciliations and maintain daily log reports.
• Coordinate with sawmill staff, foresters, and drivers on quality or log errors.
• Assign log loads to contracts using Angel an Talley Works in the system.
• Ensure weights match scale readout before releasing drivers.
• Apply log defects using the in-app deduct system per training and mill specs.
• Generate a log tag number and attach instructions for drivers.
• Instruct drivers on mill routes and CB channel usage for yard comms.
• Enter outbound tickets for customers into Angel system and verify data.
• Identify residual loads and issue destination tickets with accurate weights.
