Job summary

Cumming Group is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support a high-profile life sciences client in Foster City, CA. This is a long-term position on complex facilities, ideal for an early-career construction professional with a strong MEP foundation.

You will join a team representing the owner through the project lifecycle, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or another MEP-related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience supporting construction projects, ideally within life sciences, biotech, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, or other technically complex environments.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction processes, project documentation, and coordination.
• Must be able to work onsite in Foster City, CA.

Responsibilities

• Assist the project management team with constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, FF&E program development and execution.
• Assist in formulating the design, bid, and project phase of scheduling.
• Assist in the Addenda and Bid process.
• Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct pre-bid and job start meetings.
• Monitor contract compliance and report concerns to Project Manager.
• Under the supervision of Project Manager, facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
• Oversee approvals from applicable government agencies are received and documented.
• Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.
• Prepares field reporting for review by Project Manager.
• Perform QA/QC process.
• Review change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards.
• Review RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to design team.
• Provide basic CPM scheduling and budget management.
• Review and maintain As Built drawings.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Attendance at work during normal business hours.
