Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, seeks a Lead Shipping & Receiving Coordinator in Auburn Hills, MI. This on-site, full-time hourly role leads freight activities, mentors S/R Specialists, and drives Lean initiatives to improve material flow and operational safety.

You will coordinate shipping/receiving, train staff, and partner with Purchasing on freight-related POs while ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a business environment with logistics/supply chain experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee material movement to ensure timely, accurate flow.
• Perform S/R Specialist duties as needed to support operations.
• Coordinate truckload freight by requirements, quotes, and scheduling.
• Partner with Purchasing to manage freight-related POs.
• Support and mentor S/R Specialists and Lead role.
• Develop training materials for S/R staff and Lead S/R role.
• Provide hands-on training on responsibilities and best practices.
• Mentor logistics team with a team-oriented attitude.
• Promote Lean and Six Sigma initiatives in Shipping and Receiving.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, safety, and throughput.
• Support standardized work across logistics operations.
• Serve as SME in international shipping, truckload freight, Ops systems, and material handling.
• Operate overhead cranes, hi-lo, and other equipment safely.
• Comply with safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
