Job summary

Penske Logistics is seeking a Lead Load Planner for an on-site role in Wilmington, CA. The ideal candidate will lead load planning activities, coordinate freight movements, and drive process improvements for our customers.

The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining excellent communication with internal teams and customers. Travel to on-site locations and shift flexibility are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience with Load Planning, scheduling, dispatching and carrier communication.
• Transportation Management experience preferred.
• Problem solving and ability to communicate solutions.
• Ability to work with team and support team needs.
• Ability to prioritize customer and business needs to drive customer delight.
• Excellent communication, organizational and PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Support supervisor on process management activities and customer communication.
• Indirect team management responsibilities delegated by Supervisor or Account manager.
• Shift management for a single customer or across customers.
• Travel to Penske or customer on-site locations as needed.
• Run metrics and measures to manage process controls.
• Train the team on load planning activities and update SOPs.
• Plan and optimize shipments using Penske's Transportation Management System.
• Tender freight requirements to 3rd Party Carriers.
• Maintain Transportation Management systems.
• Respond to internal and external customer inquiries.
• Escalate customer inquiries at first/second level as needed.
• Work with Operations Managers to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Stay current on the customer's industry.
