Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in California is seeking a senior on-site Lab Operations Leader to manage cross-functional teams handling laboratory services. You will oversee staffing, training, and performance, while ensuring compliance with GxP and safety protocols.

You will coordinate audits, inventory, and SOP maintenance, working to optimize processes and customer satisfaction. The role requires strong communication and analytical skills, with hands-on PPE adherence.

Qualifications

• 4 years of progressive experience in laboratory operations or scientific services.
• Experience managing small teams and supporting staff development
• Strong knowledge of GxP requirements and laboratory safety protocols
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to write and maintain SOPs and work instructions
• Experience with chemical handling, media preparation, and lab equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Physical ability to lift/push/pull 30-50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Willingness to wear required PPE including lab coats, safety glasses, etc.

Responsibilities

• Effectively lead a diverse cross-functional team of on-site lab specialists. Responsible for complete employee lifecycle management: new hire selection, identification of training needs and solutions, coordinating development training, and employee performance evaluations.
• Deliver on committed contractual scope of work. Assist with tracking business metrics.
• Act as liaison between customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific; Coordinate onsite vendor escorting and customer visits as the site subject-matter expert, and act as a resource to identify savings and opportunities.
• Implement SOPs, conduct site audits, and assist with completion of annual physical inventory.
• Drive process improvement culture by supporting Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives.
• Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times throughout customer locations, professionally and positively.
• Be involved with and support safety programs such as hazard identification, conduct inspections and incident reporting/investigations as required.
• May perform other responsibilities as assigned by management
