Job summary

RTX’s Collins Aerospace division offers an immersive co-op on the manufacturing floor, providing hands-on experience with production teams on day-to-day and longer-term projects. You will design tooling using 3D printing to support production needs and analyze layouts, flow, and systems for improvements.

The program seeks students pursuing a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, with CAD experience.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
• Relevant experience can be obtained through on-the-job training, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session that will run from January to August. This includes the summer, and it is expected that students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage in this working mentorship opportunity.
• Work directly with our manufacturing production floor employees, including operators, inspectors, quality personnel, and test technicians, to solve day-to-day issues and proactively work on longer-term projects to eliminate recurring issues.
• Design tooling to aid the manufacturing process, utilizing additive manufacturing (3D printing) to support production needs.
• Participate in the analysis of optimal layout, flow, building, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems.
• Assist in planning the allocation of resources, materials, and personnel to maximize the utilization of equipment.
• Conduct studies focused on cost control, productivity improvement, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
