Job summary

The City of Tucson General Services Department is seeking an HVAC Technician to maintain, repair, and replace City HVAC systems and equipment. You will work under the HVAC-R Supervisor, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across facilities, with emphasis on energy management, air conditioning, heating, and related controls.

Requires EPA 608 Universal Certification within 12 months, AZ Class D driver license, and 4 years of related experience; in-person assessments will be held

Qualifications

• Six months post high school required.
• Four (4) years of directly related experience.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, and temperature control systems.
• Restores refrigerant and oils from HVAC equipment using the City reclamation system.
• Follows safety policies and maintains HVAC systems and refrigerants.
• Coordinates HVAC projects with contractors and customers; provides estimates.
• Purchases materials for replacements or repairs as required for projects.
• Responds to inquiries via phone, email, and site visits regarding maintenance tasks.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of workspaces and tool inventory.
