Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) in Richmond, VA, is offering an HR internship to gain hands-on experience across HR disciplines in a manufacturing setting. You will learn operations, participate in orientations, and help strengthen employee communications.

You will assist with recruiting activities, maintain HR records, and support managers with daily HR tasks while building a practical understanding of the industry and our values.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
• Experience with MS Office is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learning the operations aspects of the facility and how HR supports the business operations.
• Assists in coordinating new hire orientations, onboarding new employees, developing new programs, and increasing employee communications.
• Performs process analysis for current HR processes and procedures; suggests potential alternatives to improve efficiency and timeliness.
• Supports recruiting process: updating job descriptions, posting positions, vetting applications and resumes, organizing interviews with candidates.
• Assists in updating company databases by inputting new employee contact information and employment details and maintaining current employee files.
• Responding to staff inquiries regarding HR policies, employee benefits and other HR-related matters.
• Assist with other tasks & projects assigned by manager.
