Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions seeks a Hospital Based Patient Advocate to guide uninsured hospital patients through Medicaid and other assistance programs. This full-time, onsite role at a hospital in Hixson, TN offers a Monday–Friday schedule and hands-on bedside support.

You will screen patients, complete applications, document thoroughly in hospital and Elevate systems, and coordinate with case managers to secure coverage and timely follow-up.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred
• Prior hospital experience preferred
• Adaptability when dealing with changing processes, computer systems and government programs
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs
• Critical thinking skills
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms
• Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
• Effectively communicate both orally and written, to a variety of individuals
• Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics while in a fast-paced environment
• Dress code alignment with client’s requirements
• Hybrid work policy compliance

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal/state/county programs
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved
• Document thoroughly in Elevate PFS and hospital systems
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors
• Answer calls, make outbound calls, and track enrollment/renewal paperwork
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and agencies by phone
• Assist applicants with gathering documents and arranging transportation
• Conduct in-person community visits as needed to obtain documentation
• Inform clients of approvals/denials in a timely manner
• Attend ongoing training on current rules for governmental programs
• Regular and timely attendance
• Other duties as assigned
