Job summary

OrthoMed Anesthesia seeks a dedicated Risk Manager onsite in Addison, TX to lead malpractice insurance programs and enterprise risk management across the organization. The role collaborates with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and staff to implement comprehensive risk strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in healthcare malpractice insurance, knowledge of anesthesia operations, and strong analytical/communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Risk Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in malpractice insurance for healthcare clinicians.
• Knowledge of anesthesia practice operations and associated risks.
• Experience with insurance carriers, claims management, and legal proceedings.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Professional certification (ARM, CPHRM, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee malpractice insurance policies for anesthesiologists and clinical staff, ensuring adequate coverage and cost‑effective renewals.
• Coordinate with insurance carriers and legal counsel on malpractice claims, incident investigations, and settlement negotiations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments of clinical practices, procedures, and protocols to identify potential liability exposures.
• Own the commercial insurance renewal process across all lines of coverage, including coordination, compilation, and timely submission of underwriting data and exposure information in advance of policy renewal dates.
• Develop and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and protocols specific to anesthesia practice.
• Manage issuance, review, and maintenance of annual and ad‑hoc certificates of insurance across all lines of coverage, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance carriers, brokers, and third‑party partners, facilitating day‑to‑day communication, renewals, claims coordination, and coverage‑related inquiries.
• Provide risk management education and training to physicians, nurses, and support staff.
• Manage incident reporting systems and ensure timely documentation of adverse events.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Analyze claims data, incident trends, and risk metrics to develop prevention strategies.
