Job summary

NASA Ames Research Center in California is seeking a Hazardous Materials System Administrator within the Logistics Support Services division to uphold quality, safety, and compliance for government services contracts. You will manage the hazardous materials management system, oversee configuration control, and improve operational processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with hazardous materials or college degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of federal/state hazardous materials regulations
• Familiarity with inventory management or ERP systems
• Experience with computer-based applications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Process hazardous/regulated materials requests and upload them into the hazardous materials management system to ensure proper workflow.
• Coordinate review and approval of hazardous/regulated materials authorization requests by environmental, health, safety, and logistics organizations; serve as workgroup manager for final approvals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for team members, management, customers, and external vendors regarding all hazardous materials activities.
• Generate and deliver standard and custom reports tracking key performance indicators (e.g., order requests, inventory status, authorized use list updates, expiration dates, waste generation) to ensure proper system use and identify corrective actions.
• Gather and organize information for reports, briefings, and data-call submissions.
• Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date database of hazardous materials status across the Center.
• Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) evaluations of hazardous materials inventories and physical storage locations; identify and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Provide functional training to personnel on using the Hazardous Materials Management System.
• Identify and report concerns, including safety‑related issues, to management.
• Observe work being performed to verify quality, completion, and adherence to safety standards.
• Perform general administrative duties such as filing, recordkeeping, and organizing documentation.
• Support business and administrative efforts associated with the government services contract.
• Use computer‑based programs for a variety of administrative tasks.
