Job summary

Simtra US LLC in Bloomington seeks a Critical Utilities Engineer to lead maintenance, improvement and testing of critical utility systems on-site. You will manage vendor relations, procurement, installation and testing to meet budget and schedule while complying with cGMP standards.

You will apply LEAN methods to continuously improve facilities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, compliant operations supporting aseptic processing.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or Technology is required.
• 3+ years of pharmaceutical industry or regulated role experience.
• Knowledge of high and low voltage switchgear and distribution systems.
• Experience with automation and PLC systems; understanding of wiring and circuitry.

Responsibilities

• Support design and maintenance of utilities and related systems including AHUs, cooling towers, and steam generation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot utility systems to minimize downtime.
• Supervise technical building systems in GMP environments (electricity, refrigeration, vacuum).
• Plan shutdowns, installations, and process optimization of utilities.
• Create cGMP/GDP lifecycle documentation and change controls.
• Be SME for building monitoring and work order systems.
• Drive continuous improvement using LEAN tools across utilities and equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems into manufacturing.
• Develop preventive maintenance plans for utilities and equipment.
• Stay updated on safety and quality standards; guide junior engineers.
• Own the qualified state of critical utilities equipment.
