Job summary

Archer, an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, is seeking a Software/Robotics Engineer to integrate the onboard software stack onto flight hardware and own the operator interface for multi-platform operation. You will plan end-to-end test campaigns, analyze post-test data, and drive the operator experience from ground control to in-field use.

The role requires hands-on testing with small aircraft or robotic platforms, and proficiency with ROS 2, Linux, MAVLink, and PX4/ArduPilot.

Qualifications

• Background in robotics or systems software engineering.
• Experience with ROS 2 and Linux-based systems.
• Experience with MAVLink and PX4/ArduPilot.
• Experience with ground control station (GCS) or human-machine interface (HMI) development.
• Hands-on test experience with small aircraft or robotic platforms, including data analysis using Python or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Integrate the onboard software stack onto flight hardware, including flight controllers and companion compute.
• Own ground-control software and the operator interface, supporting single-operator, multi-platform operation.
• Plan and execute test campaigns end-to-end, including test cards, instrumentation, and safety/site coordination.
• Perform post-test data analysis to gate program milestones.
• Own the overall operator experience of the system, from ground control to in-field operation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, perception, navigation, and autonomy team.
