Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist I to work both indoors and outdoors at customer sites, ensuring safety standards and proper packaging of materials for regulated disposal. The role includes supporting hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste removal, documentation, and on-site activities at various customer locations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or environmental science, with knowledge of federal/state regulations, DOT/RCRA experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or environmental science.
• Understanding of Federal and State environmental and transportation regulations.
• DOT and RCRA experience preferred.
• Ability to perform waste sampling and create accurate waste characterizations.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification or ability to pass on hire.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR per company policy.
• Ability to lift or move objects weighing 40 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Collect, characterize & package customer waste for final disposal.
• Assist in safely transporting customer waste per federal regulations.
• Assist with customer paperwork including packing lists, waste labels & shipping documents.
• Provide onsite support at customer locations (inspections, waste collection, inventory, housekeeping & outbound waste shipments).
• Collaborate with the team to identify contents via field tests and categorization.
