Job summary

Medtronic offers Engineering Intern opportunities for students in multiple locations across the U.S. Internships are full-time for 10–11 weeks, with housing assistance and relocation support for eligible interns.

Interns may support Research & Development, Operations, and Quality Engineering areas, gaining hands-on experience across design, testing, and manufacturing readiness. Internship runs June–August (semester/quarter programs).

Qualifications

• Working toward a bachelor's or master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not provided for internship positions.
• Preferred qualifications include internship/project experience in engineering design, testing, manufacturing, quality, data analysis, or product development.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, analysis, and testing of engineering solutions during research and product development phases.
• Contribute to system integration, verification, validation, risk analysis, and data-driven evaluation efforts.
• Support safety testing, regulatory compliance, and transfer of products from development into manufacturing.
• Design and support manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment, machining, and material handling.
• Provide technical and sustaining engineering support within manufacturing environments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, efficiency, and production yield.
• Develop, apply, and maintain quality standards and protocols for materials, components, and finished products.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to support quality requirements and compliance.
• Support reliability studies, data analysis, and evaluation of design or test methods to achieve product reliability targets.
