Job summary

MTA is seeking an Emerging Talent Intern for the Emergency Mgmt. & Preparedness Division. This onsite spring internship requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and focuses on data management, analysis and administrative support for emergency management activities.

The role involves emergency preparedness tasks, reporting, and collaboration with division and Subways liaisons. Undergraduate or graduate students with related majors and GPA requirements are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Management- Preparation and response to emergencies experienced by the Department of Subways.
  • Monitoring – Weather data and other outside factors which could potentially create an emergency within the subway system.
  • Tracking – Development of preparedness activities and ensure they are meeting the tasks identified in the emergency management plan.
  • Data Management – Collecting and maintaining accurate data and records.
  • Reporting – Creating and distributing various preparedness reports.
  • General Administrative Support – Provide day-to-day support to ensure smooth office operations as needed.
  • Documentation – Maintain proper documentation of emergency management plans.
  • Collaboration – Coordinate with team and Subways Liaisons for information when required.
