Smithfield Foods, Inc. is hiring an EHS Manager onsite in Sioux Falls, SD. You will oversee environmental, health and safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and leading EMS/SIPS initiatives.

The role emphasizes incident investigation, training, and continuous improvement across plant operations. The ideal candidate brings a degree in EHS and 5+ years of relevant experience, plus strong leadership skills for coaching teams and managing audits and certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety field; 5+ years relevant experience; or equivalent combination.
• 2+ years of demonstrated team management or project leadership experience.
• Able to make strategic decisions under pressure, including leading emergency response efforts.
• Occasional long hours, weekends, on-call status, and shift coverage as needed.
• Occasional travel to collaborate with others.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental, Health and Safety programs ensuring OSHA, EPA, and company standards compliance.
• Lead EMS and SIPS reviews; address audit findings; drive ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification efforts.
• Manage Process Safety and Risk Management for ammonia refrigeration; coordinate site security plans.
