Job summary

PHINIA Inc. in Troy, MI is seeking a Direct Materials Buyer for our on-site aftermarket and remanufacturing plant.

This role ensures continuity of supply for direct materials across diesel fuel injection systems, starters, alternators, and related product lines, while aligning with service-level requirements. You will source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships, support RFQs and long-term agreements, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Demand Planning to optimize

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain in automotive, aftermarket, remanufacturing, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and direct material procurement.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems (PPAP/APQP) and technical documentation.
• Experience in global, cross-functional environments and influencing stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with SAP or other ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Execute sourcing strategies for direct materials for aftermarket/remanufacturing.
• Ensure continuity of supply while optimizing inventory, working capital, cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, contracts, performance metrics, and development initiatives.
• Support RFQs, sourcing decisions, cost-reduction initiatives, and long-term commercial agreements.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, and Customer Service to support new products and changes.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and support PPAP, APQP, supplier transfers, and quality compliance.
• Monitor supply risks and elevate concerns with mitigation and recovery plans.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, corrective actions, and CI initiatives.
• Support inventory optimization and shortage/disruption management.
• Ensure compliance with PHINIA sourcing policies and ethical sourcing standards.
• Support supplier improvement, cost savings, sourcing optimization, and productivity initiatives.
• Collaborate with GSM and plant stakeholders to support sourcing objectives and supplier performance.
