Job summary

Volvo Cars in Ridgeville, SC is seeking a Direct Material Buyer to procure materials for advanced and new vehicle projects, and ongoing production. You will own localization of parts, driveSupplier performance and cost efficiency, and collaborate with global teams across Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities include establishing supplier agreements, managing RFQs and POs, and leading cost-saving initiatives while ensuring quality and on-time delivery for automotive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• 3+ years of manufacturing procurement experience.
• Experience with Plastics, Injection Molding and Painted Plastics preferred.
• Knowledge of automotive Tier 1 & 2 suppliers, systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Map, evaluate and establish a U.S. supply base for relevant commodities.
• Establish supplier agreements and source local and global content.
• Drive localization business case development, evaluation and execution.
• Lead supplier negotiations to achieve optimal cost, quality, and terms.
• Serve as primary commercial contact for assigned suppliers.
• Issue RFQs, purchase orders and manage commercial changes.
• Support engineering and design changes within active projects.
• Participate in global category meetings to align sourcing strategies.
• Develop and maintain understanding of VCC sourcing processes and IT systems.
• Lead cost savings initiatives from idea generation through implementation.
• Manage BOMs down to raw material.
