Job summary

Smarty is seeking a Data Acquisition & Quality Specialist Intern in Orem, UT, to help unlock the mysteries of data for cutting-edge products. This paid internship runs January 2027 through August 2027, with a minimum of 15 hours per week during Winter/Spring and potential extra hours in Summer.

You will join Data Foundations to support data sourcing, quality, governance, and engineering—building pipelines, validating data, onboarding vendors, and partnering with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in data analytics or related field.
• Hands-on experience working with data and SQL.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to turn large datasets into clean, structured formats.

Responsibilities

• Research, identify, evaluate, and onboard data sources to meet organizational objectives.
• Profile, validate, and QA data for quality, completeness, and consistency.
• Evaluate, onboard, and maintain data vendors and licenses.
• Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines for location and enrichment data.
• Collaborate with product managers to define data requirements and work with engineering teams.
