Job summary

VAST Data is seeking a Resident Customer Support Engineer to join our onsite team in Dallas, TX. You will act as a product expert, handle daily operations, manage escalations, and work directly with customers, including pre-sales consultations and coordinating with engineering.

The role requires 5+ years in customer-facing storage roles, strong Linux and networking skills, scripting in bash, S3 and HPC knowledge, and travel about 20%.

Qualifications

• Extensive enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, and storage experience.
• 5+ years in customer-facing roles with complex storage solutions.
• Strong Linux system administration knowledge and networking troubleshooting.
• Bash scripting and familiarity with at least one programming language.
• Experience with S3 and high-performance computing environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel ~20% and work onsite in Dallas.

Responsibilities

• Become a VAST Data product expert and lead escalations.
• Handle daily operations and manage customer support cases.
• Build rapport and be a trusted advisor to the customer’s tech team.
• Deliver issue resolution and coordinate with engineering on escalations.
• Perform installations, upgrades, expansions, and field maintenance.
• Lead monthly and quarterly customer review meetings.
• Submit feature requests and bug reports, driving product improvements.
• Identify opportunities for customers to adopt more VAST features.
