Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a compassionate Customer Service Coordinator for a fully onsite, six-week contract in Washington, DC. You will assist with enrollment, grocery distribution, and inventory in a community food assistance program serving older adults.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of customer service experience in a community setting, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to support seniors in Southeast DC. This six-week assignment runs Oct 5 – Nov 13, 2026.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience preferred, especially in a community-facing setting.
• Volunteer, nonprofit, or community outreach experience is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach.
• Ability to follow established policies and federal program guidelines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist senior participants during visits to the community center.
• Support participant intake and registration for a federally funded food assistance program.
• Assist with distribution of monthly grocery packages and help participants transport items to vehicles.
• Monitor incoming/outgoing food supplies and maintain inventory records.
• Receive, organize and display fresh produce for participants.
• Follow food safety procedures and federal program requirements.
• Respond to participant questions and feedback courteously and professionally.
• Escalate complex issues to program leadership as needed.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming environment for community members.
• Communicate operational needs and inventory concerns to leadership.
• Follow applicable policies and procedures.
