Job summary

Avantor in Indianapolis is seeking an Operations Specialist to manage inventory control, procurement, and lab support across multiple facilities.

You will work with SAP and other systems, interface with customers, and train staff on service offerings while helping meet safety, quality, and revenue goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher degree a plus.
• 3+ years in inventory control/procurement/shipping/receiving/inside sales, etc.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• GMP facility experience strongly desired.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Forklift certification a plus.
• Experience with VWR/Avantor products a plus.
• IATA/DOT/OSHA knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Manager of Operations Specialist and support lab/production services to serve customers.
• Support multiple facilities and possibly perform duties of coordinators or material handlers when needed.
• Travel may be required and candidate may backup other territories.
• Coordinate and lead team efforts to meet customer requirements.
• Develop SOPs, scopes of work, standard work, and training materials.
• Utilize SAP, Inventory Manager, Citrix, VBQ, Info Access, Intranet, Ariba, SAP, EZ Source, Nexus and other systems.
• Interface with customer contacts to procure lab supplies and materials.
• Train staff on services offered and provide SAP support.
• Manage budgets, monitor KPIs and ensure safety/quality goals.
• Create programs to improve service efficiencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Manager of Operations Specialist and work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
• Support multiple facilities and/or customers in a strategic geographic area and may perform the job functions of Coordinators, Technicians, Material Handlers, Glass Washers when scheduled vacations, leave, and/or emergency situations occur.
• Act as a backup to other territories and may require travel outside of the designated territory.
• Coordinate and lead team efforts and perform work related to customer requirements.
• Work closely with management to complete projects such as Standard Operating Procedures, Scopes of Work, Standard Work, On-The-Job Training, and other assorted tasks, along with direct customer interfacing relative to job functions.
• Utilize AVANTOR and customer computer systems: SAP, Inventory Manager, Citrix, VBQ, Info Access, Intranet, Ariba, SAP, EZ Source, ESpree, Nexus, Pitney Bowes, UPS, Fedex, ChemSW, Coupa, JD Edwards, Oracle and customer-specific applications.
• Interface directly with customer Point-of-Contact, purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers etc. to procure lab supplies and materials.
• Train Avantor Lab and Production Services associates on all service offerings.
• Provide SAP Support (Full customer services, credit rebills, and invoice scrubbing).
• Modify and maintain quality metrics and key performance indicators.
• Manage a budget related to expense reports.
• Meet revenue, TOE, safety, performance, and quality goals and objectives.
• Create programs for enhanced service efficiencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree or undergraduate degree in a business or science-related field is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in Inventory control/procurement/shipping and receiving/Inside Sales, etc., a plus
• Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Suite
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Previous experience working in a GMP facility is strongly desired
• Knowledge of Information Access and System ESS
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required to perform the essential functions of the job
• Cross-referencing and inside sales experience are a plus
• Forklift Certification is a plus
• Prior experience with VWR/Avantor products and services, a plus
• IATA, DOT, OSHA Right to Know, IMDG a plus
