Job summary

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team in Spring House, PA, seeks an onsite inventory handler for first shift (6-8am start, 3:30pm end). The role emphasizes inventory control, cycle counts, and accurate records to support biopharma and educational customers.

You will coordinate with shipping, receiving, and purchasing, provide customer service, and ensure safety and compliance with all procedures. Proficiency in SAP and related systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years' experience in material handling/inventory replenishment.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory control, stock movement, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reporting.
• Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and ensure accurate records.
• Process inventory requests and coordinate on-site and off-site movements.
• Provide customer service support including order entry, reporting, metrics, and issue resolution.
• Perform purchasing activities such as backorder management, expediting, and vendor coordination.
• Coordinate shipping and receiving, including documentation and package delivery.
• Handle hazardous materials and ensure compliance with shipping/packaging requirements.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, purchasing teams, facility leaders and plant managers.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and support change management initiatives.
• Collaborate with sales teams and manufacturers to support operations.
• Drive process improvements and develop programs to enhance service efficiency.

Opportunity

In this role, you will report to Supervisor, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel and our customers to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

1st Shift/ M-F 6-8am - 3:30pm (flexible start time) 8 hours -30 min lunch break)

Hourly Rate

$20.00 - $23.50

What we’re looking for

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience: 2+ years' experience in material handling/inventory replenishment

Education

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role, you will:

• Manage inventory control, stock movement, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reporting.
• Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and ensure accurate inventory records.
• Process inventory requests and coordinate on-site and off-site inventory movements.
• Provide customer service support, including order entry, reporting, metrics tracking, and issue resolution.
• Perform purchasing activities such as backorder management, expediting, quote management, invoice reconciliation, and vendor coordination.
• Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, including shipment processing, documentation, and package delivery.
• Handle hazardous materials and ensure compliance with shipping and packaging requirements.
• Manage consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, and third-party inventory.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, purchasing teams, facility leaders, and plant managers.
• Utilize SAP, Citrix, ChemSW, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, and other customer-specific systems.
• Maintain documentation, records, SOPs, and support change management initiatives.
• Collaborate with sales teams and manufacturer representatives to support business operations.
• Drive process improvements and develop programs that enhance service efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
