Job summary

Nusano is seeking a Controls Engineer to own controls workstreams end-to-end for linear accelerator systems at our Valencia, CA facility. You will design, validate, and deliver PLC, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, and related hardware, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability.

The role involves independent design decisions, mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and supporting deployment, commissioning, and safety compliance in a fast-moving R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and commissioning industrial control systems.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial networks.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and P&IDs with SOLIDWORKS Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 79, ISA, IEC standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Own design, specification, programming, installation, and commissioning of controls workstreams.
• Design and support electrical control cabinets, instrumentation, and related hardware.
• Lead troubleshooting of PLCs, networks, instrumentation, and interfaces.
• Analyze electrical and data systems; conduct trade studies.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.
• Participate in hazard analyses and safety reviews.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and system documentation.
• Coordinate with mechanical engineering, physics, operations, safety, software, and vendors.
• Mentor Associate engineers and raise risks early with context.
