Job summary

North Coast Container, based in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Full-Time Controls Engineer to own automation from concept to startup and ongoing improvement. This onsite, first-shift role collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance and Production to keep equipment reliable, safe and productive.

You will develop, install, commission and improve plant automation systems, including PLC programs, HMI applications, safety systems and MES data collection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field is required.
• At least five years of hands-on controls engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Strong PLC, HMI, safety devices and automated equipment experience, especially Allen-Bradley ladder logic.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop, install, commission and improve plant automation systems.
• Create PLC programs, HMI applications, safety systems and MES data collection.
• Write, test and document maintainable ladder logic.
• Design control system architecture, panels and wiring layouts.
• Review designs with internal teams and partners; manage capital and improvement projects.
• Monitor machine data and alarms to drive reliability; provide on-site troubleshooting.
• Occasional travel to other NCC locations.
