Job summary

Crown Industrial Services seeks a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting department, perform daily accounting tasks, reconcile accounts, and ensure GAAP compliance. This role partners with the fractional CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, and CPA/CMA certification preferred. On-site with Michigan operations, strong Excel and ERP skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands on GL ownership.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting tasks including journal entries, AP/AR oversight, and bank activity posting.
• Complete reconciliations (bank, credit card, inventory, accruals, prepaid, fixed assets).
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper classification of all transactions.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze variances in revenue, margins, labor, overhead, and operating expenses.
• Maintain job costing, standard costing, and margin reporting for service lines.
• Provide financial insights to leadership to support operational decision-making.
