Job summary

Pogue Construction, based in Texas, seeks a Safety Professional to lead on-site safety programs across its commercial projects. You will conduct safety audits, enforce regulations, and collaborate with the Safety Director and project staff to prevent incidents.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of safety experience or a related two-year degree, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
• Ability to identify known potential exposures and drive corrective action.
• Computer skills with MS Office suite.
• Proven management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively and train others.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety audits, issue reports of violations, and require immediate corrective action by subcontractors.
• Stoppage when circumstances pose immediate danger to life and health on a project.
• Work with the Safety Director to recommend and implement corrective action per policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership for assigned projects and build working relationships with all project staff.
• Serve as site Safety Professional for all assigned construction projects; be an on-site resource for safety questions and improvements.
• Develop partnerships with Subcontractor Safety Reps to ensure compliance.
• Investigate and resolve issues on behalf of Pogue Construction; communicate with staff and subcontractors to resolve field safety issues.
• Enforce safe work practices and conditions in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations and contractual requirements.
• Educate and advise project staff on safety guidelines and policies.
• Conduct scheduled and impromptu training and safety meetings.
