Job summary

JM Construction is seeking a Construction Superintendent to oversee all on-site activities for custom projects in San Luis Obispo County. You will ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence while coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and on-site personnel.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Construction Management (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of supervisory experience, with strong plan-reading skills and proficiency in Procore, Autodesk Build, and Smartsheet.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction supervision or related role.
Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Familiarity with construction safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Build, Smartsheet).
Preferred experience with tools such as Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, or similar platforms.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations at the construction site, ensuring work aligns with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and on-site personnel to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to construction drawings.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to resolve issues and implement design changes.
Schedule and manage material deliveries, ensuring availability of necessary resources.
Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and other project documentation.
Facilitate job site meetings with subcontractors and stakeholders to review progress and address concerns.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of construction equipment and tools.
Manage site logistics, including access, staging, and temporary facilities.
Address and resolve on-site conflicts or delays promptly to keep the project on track.
Verify that all work complies with local building codes and regulations.
Assist in project closeout, including punch list completion and final inspections.
Maintain positive relationships with clients, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Train and mentor on-site staff as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
