Job summary

Island Hospital in Anacortes, WA seeks an experienced Cardiac Sonographer to perform a full range of echocardiographic studies, including TTE, TEE, and stress echo, in accordance with ASE guidelines.

You will verify orders, ensure patient safety, acquire high-quality images, and document findings in the EMR, while coordinating with physicians and the imaging team. The role is onsite, full-time, with on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of echocardiographic studies as ordered by physicians, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and pharmacologic stress imaging.
• Verify patient identity and orders prior to procedures, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Assume responsibility for patient safety, comfort, and monitoring during procedures.
• Acquire high-quality images meeting benchmark standards and complete post-exercise imaging within timeframes.
• Assist cardiologists during procedures to ensure optimal imaging and safety.
• Document preliminary findings and measurements in the EMR and other systems.
• Communicate pertinent clinical information to cardiologists and care team members.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain ultrasound equipment and work areas under infection control standards.
• Demonstrate infection prevention practices and aseptic technique.
• Complete annual trainings and competencies to maintain credentials.
• Participate in on-call, weekend, or holiday coverage as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by clinicians or imaging leadership.
