Job summary

Medix is seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Claims Specialist with behavioral health billing experience to join a busy claims department in Phoenix. The role focuses on eligibility verification, claims review, denial resolution, and payment posting in an onsite setting.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Medicaid billing, CPT/HCPCS codes, and proficient Excel; strong accuracy and productivity are required for this contract-to-hire position with standard hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of behavioral health claims or medical billing experience - required.
• Hands-on experience processing or billing behavioral health claims.
• Experience with EHR systems and computerized billing.
• Familiarity with CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Medicaid claims/billing is strongly preferred; commercial behavioral health billing experience may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Verify client insurance eligibility and coverage.
• Review and scrub claims for accuracy and completeness.
• Research, reconcile, and resubmit denied claims.
• Post payments to client accounts within the EHR system.
• Communicate with insurance payers regarding claims and outstanding issues.
• Maintain accurate records and meet quality and productivity expectations.
• Support daily claims department operations.
