Job summary

Sanctuary Recovery Centers in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage the revenue cycle for behavioral health services. You will process, follow up, and resolve denied or unpaid claims using CollaborateMD and Kipu, ensuring timely reimbursement and accurate patient accounts.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of medical billing/A/R experience, strong knowledge of Arizona payer guidelines, HIPAA compliance, and proficiency in Excel/Word.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of medical billing and A/R experience, preferably in behavioral health.
• Strong understanding of Arizona healthcare billing, payer guidelines, and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in CollaborateMD and Kipu is required; familiarity with ADS Medics Premier is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10 coding and insurance payers.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; HIPAA compliant.

Responsibilities

• Process, review, and follow up on insurance claims using CollaborateMD and Kipu.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Investigate and resolve denied or unpaid claims with insurers, patients, and internal teams.
• Post payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately.
• Prepare and submit appeals and files for denied claims.
• Identify claim trends and report findings to the RCM Manager.
• Contact payers about recoupments, overpayments, and missing checks; initiate disputes as needed.
• Review underpayments and overpayments and report findings.
• Maintain detailed billing records and update insurance information.
• Generate A/R reports and assist with month-end closing.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and CMS guidelines.
• Provide feedback to management and attend meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
