3M HEALTHCARE is seeking an Assoc Scientist/Scientist to support sample management and molecular biology workflows at our South San Francisco site. The role requires handling biologic samples, performing plasmid DNA prep, sequencing, and QC methods with strict adherence to lab procedures.

Applicants should have a lab science degree with 0–4 years of related experience and be able to work independently in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in lab sciences such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or similar.
• Assoc Scientist: 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Scientist: 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree, or an equivalency comprising a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience.

Responsibilities

• Support sample management, acquisition, registration, preparation, and distribution workflows for biologic samples.
• Adapt scientific knowledge to resolve problems encountered while meeting internal and project deadlines.
• Review and follow laboratory procedures and policies for operating functions.
• Demonstrate command of all techniques and tools required for assigned responsibilities.
• Ensure safe working practices.
• Perform sample-management activities: acquisition of new samples, sample registration and data entry, aliquoting, aseptic handling, and quality control.
• Execute standard molecular biology techniques including plasmid DNA preparation, sequencing, sequence analysis, and nucleic‑acid analytical/QC methods.
• Conduct analytical techniques and automated liquid handling.
• Optional: Familiarity with establishing laboratory automation platforms and writing methods.
• Optional: Experience with Titian Mosaic or other Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Maintain laboratory records, reports, and files.
• Independently manage and resolve technical problems.
• Recommend and assist in implementing goals, objectives, and approved policies and procedures.
• Provide support to colleagues with equipment or technical requirements for ongoing projects.
• Other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories.
