Job summary

MMQCI is seeking an R&D Associate Scientist to perform a variety of general laboratory procedures under the guidance of the R&D Lab Supervisor and R&D Manager, supporting product development and validation of quality control tests for clinical molecular diagnostics.

The role includes maintaining lab inventory, preparing and aliquoting buffers/reagents, and applying molecular biology techniques such as plasmid purifications, RNA transcription, nucleic acid extraction, and PCR to support

Qualifications

• A.S., B.A. or B.S. in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with general laboratory techniques, including pipette handling, amplification, electrophoresis, nucleic acid extractions.
• Ability to accurately perform procedures requiring fine motor skills with attention to detail.
• Flexible; accustomed to fast-changing priorities of a small company.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and good work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials such as buffers, reagents, bacterial culture plates and broths according to approved protocols and SOPs.
• Maintain and stock inventory supplies, assist in washing glassware and cleaning benches/equipment per SOPs.
• Conduct molecular techniques to support development, validation and manufacturing of QC products per cGMP and ISO standards.
• Perform accurate and reproducible testing following MMQCI protocols and document results.
• Assist in validation of new products under Design Control per FDA 21CFR820 and prepare reports per MMQCI Quality System.
• Operate lab instruments (pH meters, conductivity meters, balances, autoclaves).
• Assist lead scientist in data organization and interpretation of results.
• May be trained to work with pathogens in a BSL2 environment.
