Job summary

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team in the greater Houston, TX area. The Assistant Project Manager partners with the Project Manager and project team to plan, coordinate, and manage onsite construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

This role is ideal for a motivated construction professional looking to build a strong foundation in project leadership and grow into a Project Manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial construction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with construction management software such as Procore or Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in ensuring plans, specs, contract terms, and schedules support profit margins.
• Assist in managing subcontractor agreements, submittals, and project close-out processes.
• Collaborate on timely preparation of pay applications, invoices, status reports, cost reports, and schedules using scheduling software.
• Organize and maintain project documentation (RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports) using digital tools.
• Support cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting, including labor cost analysis and budget projections.
• Promote and enforce jobsite safety standards per OSHA guidelines.
• Build relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors for smooth execution.
• Assist in onboarding and mentoring new team members and field staff.
• Support BIM/MEP coordination and design/constructability reviews.
• Use technology to streamline communication, scheduling, and reporting.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by PM or leadership.
