Job summary

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in the greater Houston, TX area is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to partner with the Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and manage on-site construction activities. You will help deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while growing into a Project Manager role.

The ideal candidate has a construction-focused degree, 3+ years of commercial construction experience, and proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, gained through internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, or full‑time roles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in ensuring plans, specs, contract terms, and schedules to protect project margins (≤140 chars).
• Assist in managing subcontractor agreements, submittals, and close‑out processes on timelines and standards.
• Coordinate with PM and Superintendent on pay apps, invoices, and reports using scheduling software.
• Organize and maintain project documentation (RFIs, submittals, changes) using digital PM tools.
• Support cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting, including labor cost analysis and budgets.
• Promote jobsite safety standards per OSHA guidelines.
• Build and maintain relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Assist in onboarding and mentoring new team members and field staff.
• Support BIM/MEP coordination and design/constructability reviews.
• Use construction management software to streamline communication, scheduling, and reporting.
• Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
