Job summary

Burns & McDonnell has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Manager to support transmission line, substation, and communications construction programs across multiple states. You will assist with cost management, scheduling, and stakeholder relations to ensure project success.

The role emphasizes on-site work with occasional field coordination, driving schedules, and maintaining budgets. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is required, with PMP a plus.

Qualifications

• Desire to gain detailed knowledge in substations, networks/telecommunications, or transmission lines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Project Managers with cost management and scheduling on multiple projects.
• Develop outage requests and sequenced work plans with SMEs and client partners.
• Coordinate procurement, permitting, and environmental reviews as needed.
• Prepare and review RFP packages and bid analysis; assist in award decisions.
