Job summary

Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Writing/Reading Tutor for open-ended, part-time temporary assignments. Tutors work face-to-face and online sessions, receive paid training, and help SCC students with writing and reading tasks.

Under supervision, tutors maintain session records, participate in center protocols, and strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all students and staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn theory-based best practices in tutoring and writing center theory.
• Strong technology skills and a willingness to do asynchronous online tutoring.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good personal hygiene.
• Ability to arrive for a shift on time and notify if shifts are missed.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring in Writing and Reading for SCC students and staff, in person and online.
• Promote a positive and welcoming learning environment.
• Follow center protocols and policies; interact professionally with colleagues and students.
• Maintain records and timesheets; submit web time entries promptly.
• Support a culture of belonging and uphold equity and inclusion policies.
