Houston Christian University is seeking an Online Student Success Mentor to engage online adult and graduate students from day one to graduation. This role supports coaching, degree completion, and proactive student retention within the Archie W. Dunham College of Business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an education-related field preferred but not required.
• Proficient with PC and Mac systems to perform daily tasks.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills.
• Adherence to Houston Christian University beliefs as required by the By-Laws.
• Ability to lift or move objects up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in setting short/long term goals and follow up with students.
• Monitor academic progress, engagement and student well-being and proactively intervene when indicators show student at risk.
• Refer and connect students to appropriate university resources including Registrar, Financial Aid, Career and Calling, academic departments, counseling, tutoring, accessibility services, and technical support.
• Respond to emails or callbacks within 24 business hours with the goal of same day.
• Provide customer service and support for new and matriculated students.
• Assist with special projects and temporary duties as assigned by Director.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Status: Non-exempt

Position Summary: The Online Student Success Mentor serves the Adult & Graduate Studies to work with the online student body by supporting the academic goals from the first day of class through matriculation onto graduation. The position supports the University’s mission by student engagement, coaching and retaining the student for degree completion.
