Job summary

Houston Christian University is seeking an Online Student Success Mentor to support Adult & Graduate Studies online students from the first day of class through matriculation onto graduation. The role focuses on student engagement, coaching and guiding degree completion to advance the university’s mission.

The mentor will work in a non-exempt capacity, coordinating with campus resources. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a Master’s preferred, and at least 3 years in an education-related

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in education related field preferred.
• Ability to use PC and Mac systems to perform daily tasks.
• Good work ethic with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate student services, retention and degree completion.
• Work independently within a highly collaborative environment.
• Assist students in setting short/long term goals and follow up with students.
• Monitor academic progress, engagement and student well-being and proactively intervene when indicators show student is at risk.
• Refer and connect students to appropriate university resources, including the Registrar, Financial Aid, Career and Calling, academic departments, counseling, tutoring, accessibility services, and technical support.
• Respond to emails and callbacks within 24 business hours with the goal of same day.
• Provide customer service and support for new and matriculated students.
• Assist with special projects and temporary duties as assigned by Director.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary : The Online Student Success Mentor serves the Adult & Graduate Studies to work with the online student body by supporting the academic goals from the first day of class through matriculation onto graduation. The position supports the University’s mission by student engagement, coaching and retaining the student for degree completion.

• Availability to maintain a flexible, and student friendly schedule including occasional evenings and weekends if needed
