Job summary

Concorde invites applications for an Online Adjunct Instructor in Sociology. This role delivers contracted courses online, aligns with Concorde curriculum, and fosters an interactive, online learning culture while supporting student success across the course competencies.

The ideal candidate possesses a Master’s degree (or equivalent), at least 1 year of online teaching experience, and strong communication skills to guide students through asynchronous and synchronous activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from nationally or regionally accredited institution, in discipline of course OR Master’s Degree with 18 course hours of graduate level courses in related subject areas which support curriculum content
• At least 1 year of online teaching experience
• Successful completion of the Concorde Online Facilitator Training course
• Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others
• Must be able to read and follow lesson plans or guides, present educational information to participants in a clear fashion, address questions or concerns and utilize effective training/instructional methods to reinforce learning
• Access to personal computer, broadband Internet services, and other hardware/software as determined by the Dean of Online Learning and/or the LMS Administrator

Responsibilities

• Prepare for teaching by ensuring sections are error-free, dates set, materials accessible, and course pairing correct
• Teach assigned course(s) following approved curriculum and presenting material engagingly
• Maintain an online classroom conducive to learning and provide regular synchronous sessions
• Respond to student communication within 24 hours and post discussions four times weekly
• Grade assignments within 72 hours with robust feedback to support student success
• Evaluate student progress and refer high-risk students to appropriate college staff
• Keep accurate records and post mid-term grades within 48 hours of week six start
