Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking qualified applicants for online, part-time instructor positions in the Division of Continuing Education (DCE). Courses focus on Advanced Lens Design, Introduction to Lasers, and related optics topics, taught online to domestic and international students.

Instructors will develop syllabi, deliver materials, and assess students using Canvas LMS. This is a course-by-course contract, with ongoing opportunities beginning June 2026 and beyond.

Qualifications

Advanced degree from an accredited institution.
Experience with online teaching and instructional technology.
Ability to design and revise curriculum and assessments.
Strong written and verbal communication; work with international students.
Commitment to academic standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

Develop and update course syllabi in consultation with program director.
Deliver online course materials and assessments in the assigned format.
Use Canvas LMS as the course support platform.
Communicate objectives and grading policies to students.
Evaluate student outcomes and assign grades.
Post final grades to transcript system by deadlines.
Stay current with professional knowledge and participate in orientations.
Complete required administrative tasks including onboarding and contracts.
