Job summary

Hoot Reading is seeking an Online Literacy Educator in Oklahoma to deliver 1:1 Structured Literacy lessons via our online platform. A bachelor’s in education and 2+ years of K-6 teaching with phonics, decoding, and reading fundamentals are required. You should be tech-savvy with a reliable laptop and quiet workspace.

Hours are part-time between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM CT, Monday through Thursday, with peak hours 8:30–1:00. Expect 5–15 hours per week, onboarding in September.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of K-6 teaching experience with a strong grasp of phonics, decoding and reading fundamentals.
• Bachelor’s degree in education (or equivalent) is required.
• Tech-savvy with a reliable laptop, internet, and quiet workspace.
• Maintains professionalism and effectiveness while working with competing priorities and diverse student needs.
• Creates inclusive learning environments where students feel respected, valued, and supported.
• Demonstrates resilience and flexibility when addressing complex academic, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges.
• Experience supporting English learners and multilingual students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 Structured Literacy lessons over videocall using the tech platform.
• Assess and address student needs within the online learning environment.
• Collaborate with families and districts to support literacy goals.
