Job summary

ECPI University is seeking instructors to teach in undergraduate Electronics Engineering Technology programs. This role welcomes industry professionals; no prior teaching experience is required as training and mentoring are provided.

Candidates should be available evenings and weekends to support adult learners in a five-week format. ECPI University’s School of Engineering Technology offers ABET accredited programs with concentrations in Mechatronics and Electronics.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field with 18 graduate semester hours; Ph.D. preferred.
  • 3–5 years industry experience in electrical/manufacturing engineering; 7+ years preferred; last 5 years active.
  • Mechatronics candidates with strong control systems, instrumentation and measurements background.
  • Experience with analog & digital electronics, PLCs, microcontrollers, FPGAs.
  • Specific experience areas include CAD, robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing.
  • Appropriate technical certification or licensure if required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in undergraduate Electronics Engineering Technology programs, focusing on hands-on instruction.
  • Share industry experience and mentor students to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Be available evenings and weekends to support adult learners.
  • Teach one live session per week and hold one live office hour via Zoom.
  • Maintain high integrity and clear communication with students and peers.

Job description

We are looking for instructors to teach in our undergraduate Electronics Engineering Technology programs. This would be an ideal position for an Electronics Engineering professional. No prior teaching experience is needed; we provide training, mentoring, and ongoing faculty support.

The School of Engineering Technology offers ABET accredited Baccalaureate degree programs in Electronic Systems Engineering Technology with concentrations in Mechatronics and Electronics.

Our terms are five weeks long and offer faculty the perfect environment in which to share their specific industry experiences to help students achieve learning outcomes. Candidates must be available evenings and weekends to support our busy adult learners.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline from a regionally accredited educational institution; Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

Experience:

  • Familiarity with Multisim and Labview software; experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs

  • Familiarity with CAD software

  • 3-5 years industry experience in an electrical and/or manufacturing engineering field required; 7+ years career industry experience preferred.

    Industry experience must be within the last 5 years.

  • Mechatronics candidates should have a strong background in control systems, instrumentation and measurements, and mechanical systems

  • Appropriate technical certification or licensure (if required)

  • Specifically looking for experience in any of the areas below:

    • Analog & Digital Electronics
    • Programmable Logic Controllers
    • Microcontrollers
    • Field Programmable Logic Arrays, FPGAs
    • Communication Systems
    • Robotics & Smart Manufacturing
    • Machine Learning
    • Computer Aided Drafting & Design
    • Engineering Mechanics

Required Skills:

  • The highest levels of integrity at all times.
  • Ability to quickly build connections with students using strong interpersonal skills (including approachability and empathy).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a 5-week accelerated course environment
  • Comfortable being first point of contact to troubleshoot software or technical concerns for students.

Online Faculty Technical Requirements:

  • Reliable high-speed internet required
  • Responsible for supplying your own windows-based computer and webcam.
  • Your computer system must pass the ECPI University minimum requirements test.
  • Required to teach one live session each week and hold one live office hour per week via Zoom
